The Ghost Train

A wall has been given the shape of a train with little ghosts, all painted in black and white

After being a part of Subtopia’s outdoor gallery for 10 years, The Ghost Train had faded and it was time for a new art work. Now there is instead a mural painting by Tomas Sundstrand. See an interview with him about his work and artistry on our Instagram.

On the wall along the upper stairs is an artwork by the Swedish artist, illustrator, filmmaker, and cartoonist, Knut Larsson. Knut has always drawn and started his journey as a professional cartoonist and artist in 1996. He looks at graffiti and the comic world as relatives. The cartoons have moved out of magazines and ended up on walls and streets.

Already as a child, Knut had a penchant for trains and the idea of the artwork at Subtopia came from the shape of the wall that he thought looked like a winding train. The rest of the details were filled in, and now a ghost train extends along the entire wall.

Knut’s cartoons are characterized by a suggestive and wistful theme but carry streaks of humor, and his childhood makes a great source of inspiration in his creations.
